1. JOHANN CHRISTOPHER LAYRLE1 (LYERLY) was born 1710 in Lake Constance, Germany, and died 1786. He married ELIZABETH CHRISTINA. She died Unknown.

Notes for JOHANN CHRISTOPHER LAYRLE (LYERLY):

Johann Christopher Layrle was born in 1710 near Lake Konstance (Constance), Germany in the southern part of the Duchy of Wurttemberg. His parents' name are not known for certain. However, there is reference to a Solomon Lyerly (Laryrle) born in 1681 in the same Lake Konstance area that may have been his father. Johann, our pioneer, landed at the main port of entry, Philidelphia, a passenger on the ship "Richard & Mary", 30 Sept. 1754. He was in Culpepper County, Va. for a while. Was in Rowan County by 1771. He was a member of Organ Church. Johann and Christopher Rintleman ( Rendleman) were sent England to solicit aid for church work in the colony. Rev. Theodore S. Drage, Rector of St. Lukes Episcopal Church of Salisbury forwarded a letter to Governor William Tryon of North Carolina asking that they be sent. On July 19, 1772 they made their way to Charleston, SC bound for Europe. King George and Queen Charlotte added a gift to their purse. In the fall of 1773 Layrle and Rendelman returned to North Carolina with Rev. Adolph Nussmann (1732-94) and Johann Gottfried Arends (Arndt) (1740-1807) as teacher, later ordained as a Lutheran minister. Rev. Nussmann became the founder of the Lutheran Church in North Carolina.

Jacharius was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. About 1818-19 he moved to Union County, IL. and then onto Jackson County, IL. He was married three times. Catherine Van poole, Catherine Misenheimer, and Sallie Snyder in order. Some Information on Jachariah Lyerly and family was given to me by Dusty Smith, Rock Island, IL. 61201.

Guy Deal did not see military service. He was a Rowan County farmer. He received an "agrie deferrment." Received in letter May 29, 1998 from my aunt Dare. "Guy had to raise enough points for his self and several more men to work on the farm to help feed the soldiers. He worked on the farm all day and graded sweet potatoes at night, so when that big truck came by the next morning to go directly to camps. As always: Dare Rufty Deal
